Celebrate Memorial Day in Aiken SC
Monday, May 30, 2011, is Memorial Day, a day we remember those brave men and women who lost their lives in service of our country. If you are looking for a way to celebrate Memorial Day in Aiken, SC, come to downtown Aiken on Saturday, May 28th beginning at 1pm to celebrate and support our soldiers in the Aiken SC Memorial Day Parade.
The parade is organized by the James L Hammons Marine Corps League Detachment 939. Currently, they are still accepting entries for veterans wishing to participate in the parade. It's only $20 to participate and line-up will begin at 12:15pm. If you're interested in marching, please call 643-0675.
For those who plan on watching the parade, please make sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair to view the festivities in comfort. The Aiken SC Memorial Day Parade begins at Park Ave and Union St, continues along Laurens St and will end on Edgefield Ave.
I personally want to thank all of the amazing men, women and families of service members who make sacrifices every day to protect the rights and freedoms we, as Americans, are privileged to benefit from. Celebrate Memorial Day in Aiken, SC by enjoying any of these events. When you see a veteran or current serviceman, shake their hand and tell them how much you appreciate what they are doing for us.
